In this episode, I chat with Christian Scott about the first few weeks of beginning band. He has been in a Title I school in Greenville, Tanglewood MS, for the past nine years. He has a unique take on beginning band because he had to provide 100% of the instruments his students would play. When he left Tanglewood, he had around 200 in band. He also talks about the importance of a consistent and sequential program of teaching rhythm. He is now the band director at Hillcrest MS in Greenville, SC.
