Please join The Palmetto Posaunen for an inspirational performance in Ballroom A on Friday Feb. 16, 2018 at 2:15 pm during the SCMEA Professional Development Conference. This will be the groups’ first public appearance since their historic performance at the 2011 International Trombone Festival in Nashville, TN.
The concert will feature J.S. Bach’s monumental Passacaglia in C minor, the powerful music to Elsa’s Procession from Lohengrin, plus an alluring setting of Ennio Morricone’s music to the Spaghetti Western, “Once Upon a Time in the West”. This performance is dedicated to the memory of charter member, George Broussard, Professor Emeritus of Trombone at East Carolina University.
The Palmetto Posaunen is a trombone ensemble comprised of university-level trombone professors, symphony musicians, freelance trombonists, and band directors. Founded in 1997 by Mark E. Britt, members of the ensemble represent six states across the southeast (SC, NC, GA, TN, AL, VA). This unique blend of leading pedagogues and performers from the region is one of only a small number of professional trombone choirs in the country. Each concert performed by the group includes music composed or arranged by members of the ensemble. With a mission of excellence in performance and education, the group is dedicated to advancing the trombone and its literature.
