Description
Stratford High School has an opening for Band Director for the 2025-2026 school year. This position is considered a Co-Director position and is a 215-day contract with stipend. Stratford High School is located in Goose Creek, SC about 25 minutes away from Charleston and 45 minutes from the beach. Stratford’s recent accomplishments include: 2023 President’s Cup Washington D.C., 2023 National Trumpet Competition Semi-Finalists, 2024 SCMEA Conference performance by the Stratford Jazz Orchestra, 2024 USC Band Clinic featured performer, selected twice for the MFA National Concert Band Festival 2020/2025, and the 2025 Jazz Education Network feature performers. The program has received consistent Superior ratings at CPA in Grade IV-V-VI-M as well as Superiors at Jazz CPA. The program has been a finalist in the SCBDA Marching Championships since 2017, including a Lower State Championship title in 2019, 2023 BOA Carolina Regional Finalist and caption award winner, and consecutive top 8 placements at SCBDA 5A/6A state finals. We are currently in class 6A for SCBDA. The Winter Guard program has also seen a revival and has placed in every event in their two seasons; including a class promotion each season and a bronze medal at CWEA Championships. The program has also consistently maintained a record number of students in the BCSD All County Bands, the SCBDA Region 5 Bands, the SCBDA All State and All State Jazz Bands, and frequently places students in the SCBDA Master Recital and Honor Jazz Combo. The Stratford band program is home to 200+ members comprised of students from the band programs of: College Park Middle School – Cindy Kerr, Director Marrington Middle School of the Arts – Holly Hauschild, Director Sangaree Middle School – Todd Smith, Director and former Stratford Director Westview Middle School – Ronnie Ward, Director and SCBDA Jazz Chair Carolyn Lewis K8 School – Brian Trauger, Director The program consists of the Marching Knights, Color Guard, Winter Guard, Stratford Jazz Orchestra, 4:30 Jazz, Jazz Combo, Chamber Music, the Stratford Symphonic Band, and the Stratford Wind Orchestra.
