Description
The Assistant Color Guard Tech will assist in the instruction and development of the JL Mann Academy Color Guard program, including the Marching Band Color Guard and Winter Guard. This individual will work closely with the Color Guard Director and band staff to provide training in movement, equipment technique, and performance skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mentoring students, fostering a positive team culture, and helping elevate the overall visual program.Marching Band Season (Fall):
Assist with teaching and cleaning choreography for flag, rifle, and sabre.
Provide individual and small-group instruction to develop technique and performance quality.
Support rehearsals, including warm-ups, across band camp, after-school practices, football games, and competitions.
Help with uniform coordination, prop usage, and performance readiness.
Winter Guard Season (Spring):
Assist in choreographing and teaching the Winter Guard show.
Help clean and refine show choreography to ensure a polished performance.
Provide feedback and individualized support to students.
Attend and assist at local and regional competitions.
General Program Support:
Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages teamwork and growth.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as needed.
Ensure equipment and props are maintained and prepared for rehearsals and performances.
Assist in evaluating and recruiting new members.
Requirements
Previous experience in color guard as a performer, instructor, or technician.
Strong knowledge of flag, rifle, sabre, and dance/movement technique.
Ability to demonstrate and teach technique effectively.
Positive, enthusiastic, and encouraging approach to student instruction.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Availability for evening and weekend rehearsals, football games, and competitions.
