General Information
Registration
There is a $30.00 entry fee per band. Please make checks payable to: Palmetto
H. S. Band Booster Club.
Positions in each class will be determined by postmark on the entry form, that is,
earliest postmark will be given last class position.
Registration Deadline: August 23, 2002.
Classification
Classification will be determined by the number of instrumentalists (horn
line) not including percussionists or band front. There will be no predetermined class
sizes. Bands will be grouped into four or five classifications according to the natural
size breaks that occur
Judging
There will be five judges assigned to the following areas: Music, Marching,
General Effect, Drum Line, and Band Front. Our judges are familiar with High School Bands
and are charged with "building up" students with positive, helpful comments.
Bands are judged by the following standards:
| 1. Music, maximum score | 40 pts. | |
| 2. Marching, maximum score | 30 pts. | |
| 3. General Effect, maximum score | 30 pts. |
Awards
There will be First, Second, and Third places in each class.
In addition, Class Ratings will be awarded Superior = 85-100, Excellent = 70-84.9, Good =
50-69.9.
Awards for Best Horn line, Best Drum Major, Drum Line, and Best Band Front will also be
given in each class.
Grand Champion Awards will be awarded to the highest scoring band of the day, on from each
of the two divisions.
