Each director will receive taped comments, and a free video tape of his band's performance to help in future contest preparation.

RULES

You will have fifteen minutes to enter the field, perform a short warm-up, perform your contest show and exit the field. Your contest routine must be a minimum of six minutes and a maximum of ten minutes.

You may enter the stadium with a cadence, but must use a drum tap to exit.

Timing begins with the first note after your drum major salute and ends when your drum major salutes at the end or when the first instrumentalist steps off the contest field at the end of your performance.

ADJUDICATION

Three judges will judge the band's performance. 40 points will be allotted music, 35 points will be allotted marching, and 25 points will be allotted general effect. These will be added together to arrive at a final score. Separate judges will judge band fronts and drum lines. Bands scoring 100 points down to 85 points will be rated superior. Bands scoring below 85 points down to 70 will be rated excellent.

CLASSIFICATION

Bands will enter according to their classification with the High School League or according to Horn Size. Out-of-state bands, please enter your school's enrollment in grades 9-12 on the application.

Any Band wishing to perform for comments only may enter Class B. Bands entering Class B will receive a participation trophy.

Division I Class A School or Up to 40 Horns	Division II Class AA School or Up to 56 Horns


Division III Class AAA School or Up to 70 Horns	Division IV Class AAAA School or Over 70 Horns

AWARDS

Trophies will be presented to the top three bands in each division. Scores in one division cannot be compared to those in another.

Trophies will be presented to all bands earning superior and excellent ratings if they are not already one of the top three bands in their division.

Trophies will be presented to the best drum major, band front (flags, rifles, majorettes, etc.) drum line and horn line in each division. The Walterboro Band Classic Championship Award will be presented to the band with the highest overall score in each division.

FOOD AND LODGING

We have numerous restaurants and motels. A list will be sent to participating bands.

Walterboro is located on I-95. We are 45 minutes from Charleston, 1 hour from Savannah and 90 minutes from Columbia.
