GENERAL INFORMATION
RULES Show length should be 5 to 10 minutes long. Bands will be scheduled in 20 minutes intervals. No penalty will be assessed to any band not electing not to perform its entire drill. AWARDS First, Second, and Third place will be given in each class as well as, Superior and Excellence awards. Awards will be given for Best Horn line in each class, Best Drum Major, Best Drum Line, and Best Band front. The Overall Award will be determined by taking the average of Music, Marching and General Effect scores. CLASS Bands may enter either by High School League classification or by Horn Size determined by the following scale (not including percussion): A (40 or less), AA (44-55), AAA (56-69), AAAA (70 or more). APPLICATION FEE An application fee of $25.00 is required with the application to defray contest expenses and maintain a top quality event for your band. Make checks payable to Eagle/Bulldog Band Booster Club. DEADLINE Entry forms must be postmarked by Friday, September 18, 1998. Postmark determines the order of performance. TICKETS Admission will be $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children 7 12 years old, as well as senior citizens with proper identification. Children under six will be admitted free. The Eagle/Bulldog Classic souvenir programs will be sold for $1.00 each. |
JUDGES The Eagle/Bulldog Marching Band Classic has a panel of six judges. The captions will be Music, Drum Major, Marching, General Effect, Band Front and Percussion. MUSIC: Mike Davis is currently the director of the Walt Disney Band and Orchestra in Orlando, Fla. Mr. Davis is a guest lecturer and clinician at major universities across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Recently, Mr. Davis conducted the South Carolina All-State Clinic Band. GENERAL EFFECT: David Cudd holds BA and MA degrees in Music Education from Furman University and The University of Southern Mississippi respectively. A former high school band director, he has designed visual programs for high school and college bands throughout the United States and is highly sought out as a consultant and adjudicator. Mr. Cudd currently resides in the mountains of Pickens, South Carolina. MARCHING: Dwight McMillian is the former band director of Orangeburg-Wilkinson for 17 years. During those years his Marching, Concert and Jazz Bands received Superior ratings. He is presently the band director at Claflin College in Orangeburg, SC. PERCUSSION: Rodney Zimmerman taught at Howard Middle School for 15 years. During his tenure, his band received superior ratings in Concert Festival. He is a former band director at Orangeburg-Wilkinson, and is presently Assistant Principal at Howard Middle School. Mr. Zimmerman is also adjunct professor of percussion at South Carolina State University. DRUM MAJOR: Matt Carl is the former drum major for Georgetown High School Band. He is presently majoring in Music Education at the University of South Carolina, and is principal Clarinetist on the Symphonic Band. BAND FRONT: Clayton F. Parker, of Columbia, SC, is a former South Caorlina All-American Individual State Rifle Champion and instructor for the Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School Band. |
