Twenty-Seventh Annual
View Recap Sheet
An excellent program is anticipated in the day long event.
We will be presenting first, second, and third place awards to the top three bands in each class (in addition to the regular trophies for those bands). These awards add a competitiveness which many bands prefer. The policy of awarding trophies denoting scoring ratings will also be continued to maintain a festival format preferred by many others.
We hope you will make plans to attend at Camden this year. Outlined below are key areas of information regarding the operation of the Southern States Festival. Please read them carefully.
REQUIREMENTS
Rules for our festival are flexible. We want you to be able to do
what you do best. There are no required movements.
JUDGING & SCORING
Bands will be judged based on the following four classifications:
| Division A | 0-30 wind players |
| Division AA | 31-50 wind players |
| Division AAA | 51-70 wind players |
| Division AAAA | 71 and above wind players |
Note: Bands may enter according to high school league classification OR by size of hornline.
There will be no penalty for overtime or undertime; we suggest, however, that your show run between six and ten minutes.
All Bands will be scored SUPERIOR (I), EXCELLENT (II), GOOD (III), FAIR (IV), and POOR (V). The SCBDA State Championships scoring format will be used.
There will be a judge for each of the following categories: Marching, Music, General Effect, Band Fronts/Drum Majors, and Percussion.
AWARDS
Two awards presentations will be held during the day, one at mid to late afternoon and the other at the conclusion of the festival.
